EXHIBIT: GROWTH To Glow and Grow in Director Park

Thursday, November 13, 2014

Visit Exhibit: Growth at Directors Park from November 14th- 23rd.

On Friday, willing participants will get to sneak inside and actually participate with Umpqua Bank’s EXHIBIT: GROWTH—an interactive digital art installation inside a geodisic dome that is taking up residence smack dab in the middle of downtown's Director Park from November 14- November 23.

“As a community bank, we believe we have a unique obligation and opportunity to be part of inspiring those in our communities to explore and celebrate their potential,” said Lani Hayward, executive vice president of creative strategies at Umpqua Bank. “We created EXHIBIT: GROWTH to begin this exploration—and to show the collective beauty that’s possible.”

Umpqua commissioned Brooklyn digital design agency Fake Love, and visual effects design studio The Mill, to create a riveting experience examining human potential and growth.

Each visitor who enters the 40-foot geodesic dome in which the exhibit will be housed, will be able to interact with large-scale motion activated technology.

At the end of each visitors journey through stunning visuals and personal discovery, you will be able to create a digital art piece, that will be added to the exhibit.

The exhibit also features artworks by six artists, with three being based in Portland. Native Oregonian Aaron Rayburn’s piece will connect the foundations of growth, land building and human origins. Sculpter Blair Saxon-Hill, decided to approach her piece with the theme of transformative growth, while Blaine Fontana’s mixed- media sculpture focuses on our potential to exist and grow with nature. Make sure to check out all six works, as they will be surrounding the dome.

Exhibit: Growth is free, so expect a line and a short wait as only four people can interact with the digital experience at a time, with the experience taking about four minutes to get through.

Visit  EXHIBIT: GROWTH at Director Park (815 SW Park Ave., 11 am – 9 pm, November 14th- 23rd) before it leaves for a 9-month tour of 12 West Coast cities.
