Grammy Winning Musician Bela Fleck to be Featured at Wine Country Benefit
Thursday, June 25, 2015
Joining Fleck and his legendary banjo picking will be the sultry voice of his wife, singer-songwriter Abigail Washburn. Tickets are $250 and proceeds from the concert will benefit the MyMusicRx program of the Children’s Cancer Association.
MyMusicRx provides aims to connect children diagnosed with cancer to the healing powers of music.
From the MyMusicRx website:
“For two decades, CCA has delivered innovative, free-of-charge programming to hospitalized kids, teens and their family members. MyMusicRx.org extends our bedside music program to an online platform, enabling seriously ill kids and teens access to the healing power of music anytime, anywhere.”
Preparing a picnic dinner to be eaten during the concert is James Beard Award-winning Chef Vitaly Paley of the Imperial and Paley’s Place. But remember to bring your own blanket or chairs, as seating will be on the winery lawn.
Penner-Ash is located in the prestigious Ribbon Ridge viticultural area just outside Newberg. Since their first vintage in 2005, Penner-Ash has received consistently high marks, especially on their estate Pinot Noirs.
The steep ticket price may cause a touch of sticker shock for some, but it's all for a good cause: improving the lives of sick children. And given the quality of the music, food, and wine, it should be a memorable experience.
