video: James Franco Stars in film about Gruesome Oregon Murder
Wednesday, April 08, 2015
In 2002, Christian Longo was taken into custody for the murder of his wife and children, who were found dead in December of 2001 in the town of Waldport, Oregon.
During Longo’s incarceration and trial, he developed a relationship with the American journalist, Michael Finkel.
Their relationship began after Finkel allegedly discovered that Longo used Finkel’s name as an alias. Eventually, the experience led to Finkel documenting his version of the story in a memoir entitled True Story: Murder Memoir, Mea Culpa.
As result of the publicity and controversy surrounding the memoir, the book was turned into the screenplay, also written by Michael Finkel, that has received good reviews despite its dark subject matter, according to Rotten Tomatoes.
In the film, Longo (Franco) and Finkel’s (Hill) relationship goes from mysterious to downright disturbing as Finkel gets closer to determining what really happened on the night Longo transformed from an average loving, family man to a heartless murderer.
