At Powell’s at Cedar Hills, Scott Sigler will be presenting Alive, the first book in a new sci-fi, YA trilogy in a which a young woman awakes in an enclosed space and frees herself, only to discover she’s trapped in a prison littered with the remains of a past she and her fellow prisoners have no knowledge of. 3415 SW Cedar Hills Blvd., 7pm, FREE
Powell’s City of Books will be hosting two writers published by local Nestucca Spit Press: Matt Love, founder of the press and author of the unconventional travel guide A Nice Piece of Astoria and poet Tim Sprout, author of the collection Newported: A Poetic Field Guide to the Pacific Coast centered around the people and places of the Oregon Coast. 1005 W Burnside St., 7:30pm, FREE

Post 134 will be hosting July’s session of the Unchaste Readers series, featuring writers Sossity Chiricuzio, Maria Talicuran, Clementine von Radics, Asha Doré, Michelle Gonzales, Anna Doggan, and Vanessa Veselka. 2104 NE Alberta St., 7pm, FREE
Sonya Lee will be at Powell’s City of Books presenting her memoir Wondering Who You Are, the story of what happened following her husband’s traumatic surgery for appendix cancer which led to substantial memory loss and, and Sonya grappled with questions about personal identity as her husband recovers into a different person and the two of them rebuild her marriage. At Powell’s City of Books, senior editor and Cracked.com columnist Robert Brockway will be reading from his new urban fantasy, time-travel novel The Unnoticeables, an off-kilter tale in which a 1970s punk living in NYC and a stuntwoman ifrom 2013 team up to fight angels watching over all humanity, and also killing them as they see fit. 1005 W Burnside St., 7:30pm, fREE

Another Read Through will be hosting local authors Charlotte Rains Dixon, author of Emma Jean’s Bad Behavior in which a childless, bestselling novelist who has made herself the champion of childless couples has suddenly become pregnant, and Kayla Dawn Thomas, author of Tackling Summer, the story of a budding relationship between a rancher’s daughter and the football star-turned-summer help. 3932 N Mississippi Ave., 7-8pm, FREE
S.L. Stoner, local author of the historical mystery series set in turn-of-the-century Portland, will be at Powell’s on Hawthorne presenting the fifth book in her series titled Dead Line, in which protagonist Sage Adair sets out Central Oregon to uncover a murderer and prevent war between the cowboys and sheepmen. 3723 SE Hawthorne Blvd., 7:30pm, FREE
This one is for the tea connoisseurs—at Powell's City of Books, Jeff Koehler will be discussing the history, politics, and cultural eddies that surround Darjeeling tea, one of the most highly-prized teas in the world. His book Darjeeling covers the tea’s origins in the Eastern Himalayas, its centrality to Britain’s imperial power as a global purveyor of tea, and the current effect the tea and its value has had on the region’s economy, environment, and people. 1005 W Burnside St., 7:30pm, fREE
Reading Frenzy will be hosting the first ever Logophile Reading Series, an event organized by eight alumni from PSU’s Creative Writing MFA program in which each of them will read from their most recent work. Authors include Jenny Forrester, Melanie Alldritt, Marina Callahan, Nick Mattos, Katrina Carrasco, Thea Prieto, Nikki Levine, Matthew Robinson, and special guest Leni Zumas, one of the professors in the MFA program. 3628 N Mississippi Ave., 7pm, FREE

TRANS PLANET, a group of five transgender poets Die Dragonetti, Jos Charles, Joshua Jennifer Espinoza, Sara Woods, and manuel arturo abreu, will be giving a reading at composition at composition gallery as part of the TRANS PLANET West Coast Tour 2015. This week’s Kid’s Storytime at Powell’s City of Books is particularly special. Claire Keane is a visual development artist for Walt Disney Animation Studios whose artwork created the look and feel of both Tangled and Frozen. Today, Claire will be reading from her debut picture book Once Upon a A Cloud in which a young girl Celeste searches for the perfect present to give to her mother, a journey that takes her all the way up into the sky. 1005 W Burnside St., 11am, FREE
