Piano. Push. Play. Launches Third Season In Portland
Tuesday, June 23, 2015
Piano. Push. Play.’s mission is to bring music to the streets of Portland by providing access to pianos to any passerby who wants to play.
Piano. Push. Play. finds old and unwanted pianos, arranges local artists and design studios to decorate them, and then places the pianos on the streets of Portland for the public. Once the pianos have spent a summer on the streets, they are donated to local schools and community centers.
The newest addition to the project this year is a free mobile app created by Portland Code School and local tech company, “Urban Airship.” The app, which is available for download, is a unique demonstration of Portland’s tech and art communities coming together. Users of the app will receive a message anytime they are near one of the pianos asking that they stop by and play a tune.
The fun Piano. Push. Play. movement begins next Monday, June 29th in Portland.
