Recently, the Portland Children’s Museum announced Brian and Josie Parker of Believe in Wonder Publishing as the the new artists in residence, beginning this October until December.

During the residency, Brian and Josie plan to encourage the young patrons of the museum in imaginative play and the creation of individual stories. While all the children will write their own unique stories, the artists plan to combine portions of each story into a “story mural” for all to enjoy.

Author and illustrator Brian W. Parker is also known as being the creator of the graphic novel series You Can Rely on Platypi. He and his wife, Josie A. Parker, operate Believe in Wonder where they strive to cultivate imagination, wonder, and artistry in the lives of children and adults.

“The focus of my work has always been to promote creativity, inspiration, and positive thinking in kids and adults alike. I do this through imagery and narratives that are bound only by the power of the imagination. The act of learning how to capture our own ideas on paper, and how to visually represent them to share with others is an incredible skill, and one that not everyone has fostered,” Parker said.
