Portland Children’s Museum Awarded Large Grant

Saturday, August 15, 2015

Portland Children's Museum will be receiving an estimated $29,176 in grants from the Oregon Cultural Trust, a non-profit seeking to sustain Portland’s cultural environment.

The museum is planning to use the money awarded for theatre renovations and improvements in play and cultural programming for its visitors. Essentially, the renovations will include a theatre capacity increase that will allow for more space to host community events and performances.

Portland Children’s Museum is among 84 other Oregon organizations to be awarded a large grant from the Oregon Cultural Trust. Cultural organizations throughout the state of Oregon will be receiving in total a record breaking $2.6 million in grants and funds for the 2015-16 year.

This is the first time the grants from the Oregon Cultural Trust have exceeded $2 million. The total amount awarded increased 30 percent and nearly doubled from the previous fiscal year.

Other Portland organizations receiving awards include Lan Su Chinese Garden, Literary Arts, Northwest Dance Project, Portland Institute for Contemporary Art, Portland Playhouse and Write Around Portland. For more information or a complete listing of organizations click here.
