Portland Fashion Week Emerging Designer Winner, Oscar Lopez of OscarDominick will present his Spring 2015 collection for RAW Natural Born Artists: Visionary event.

“If mermaids could walk they would wear OscarDominick all season!” said Portland fashion designer Oscar Lopez of OscarDominick.

Inspired by the Oregon coast and the mystery of the shells, rocks, and tiny creatures that inhabit the deep blue, designer Lopez will be bringing pale toned garments that incorporate shells, beads, and rocks to the runway.

“I stepped into a cluster of sea shells. And wondered about the journey of these shells... How did they end up here? Mermaids?... My inspiration was found that instant!” said Lopez.

Staying true to his glamorous couture aesthetic, the collection will include show stopping garments that mix contemporary elements with sophisticated styles.

Lopez’s favorite garment of the spring collection is a one piece twist crop-top.“I paired it (crop-top) with a pale mint taffeta ball-gown skirt with giant pleats.”

Lopez showed his Apocalypto inspired capsule collection during Portland Fashion Week’s Couture/Bridal night, earlier this year. The collection featured hand beaded and fringed skirts, floor length vintage lace gowns, and the final look being a beautiful dark green velvet dress paired with a dramatic feathered head-piece.

So what does this emerging PDX fashion designer think the best trend of the year was? “My favorite trend for 2014 was, and IS, the body-chain,” said Lopez. “There is something so mysterious and sexy about wearing a body-chain. Especially when it's done in a Peek-a-boo statement.”

Come out to support Lopez and other local designers, artists, and musicians at Raw: Visionary, Holocene, 1001 SE Morrison Street, Wednesday January 8, 2015, doors open at 6 pm, $20 at the door. For more information click here
