Portland Threads: Vintage & Thrift
Saturday, September 13, 2014
Prudence wearing a American Apparel hat, vintage glasses, and thrifted necklaces.
Portland is a mecca of vintage and thrift shops with unorganized piles of clothing, unique jewelry, and aggressive customers eyeing every treasure you happen to set down.
Women this week dressed in their found vintage and thrift treasures to create one-of-a-kind looks that can withstand the breezy end of summer days. An old handmade animal bone necklace hangs in front of a white band tank and is paired with a beat-up American Apparel hat, while an all-black ensemble with a chunky thrifted belt creates a canvas for handmade jewelry that elegantly dangles from the neck.

“I like stores like Eden, Flutter, and Paxton Gate because they carry high fashion deconstructed clothing, minerals, organic matter and taxidermy. I envision seeing my work in places like that. I like decrepit things that have history.”
