Dark Horse Comics and Universal Cable Productions Sign Multi-Year Deal

Wednesday, July 08, 2015

Dark Horse president and founder Mike Richardson

In an age where comic books (and comic book related television shows and movies) are as popular as ever it seems as though there's no better time to capitalize on it.

Dark Horse Entertainment and Universal Cable Productions (UCP) have signed a first-look deal in order to develop and produce scripted programming that will be based on Dark Horse’s comic book library. Negotiations for this multi-year deal began at Comic-Con 2014 when Dark Horse introduced UCP executives to some of their top writers and artists. This eventually led to multiple television projects with direct involvement from the creators of the comics, as reported by hollywoodreporter.com.

UCP and Dark Horse will work together to develop character-driven concepts for TV that will build on their current fan base. This deal will allow Dark Horse president and founder, Mike Richardson, and Senior VP Production, Keith Goldberg, to further expand their company into the television industry. Richardson graduated from Portland State University in 1977.

Dark Horse is a comic book and manga publisher that is based out of Milwaukie, Oregon. Some of their notable comics include Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Aliens, Tomb Raider, Halo and Game Of Thrones.
