On February 9th, executives from the developer of Hassalo on Eighth, American Assets Trust, Inc., joined Mayor Charlie Hales and Congressman Earl Blumenauer as they announced the names of the three new apartment buildings that will open in Portland’s Lloyd district, according to Leslie Carlson.

Once known as Block 101, Aster Tower, stands 21 stories high and will hold 337 apartments plus retail space.

The second building is Velomor and was once referred to as Block 92.

This building features retail space on the ground floor and has 177 apartments available above.

The Elwood Building is the smallest but equally well-designed apartment building, standing at 5 stories high.

The Elwood was previously known as Block 100 and holds 143 apartments plus retail space.

Although the apartments won’t begin pre-leasing until April, locals are excited to welcome a new set of apartments that will bring residency to an area of Portland that does not currently have a lot of housing options.

Carlson’s office also revealed that the apartments are designed by Portland’s GBD Architects.

The development remains true to Portland’s “green” reputation by offering green technology and recycling in addition to reusing the building’s wastewater.

The buildings house over 1,000 bike parking spaces, a doggie lounge, and a bike valet service.

“Hassalo on Eighth is creating a new neighborhood on Portland’s Eastside: A place for people to live, work and play…this is going to be a great new community,” said American Assets Trust, Inc.’s President & CEO John Chamberlain.

The three building development is located between NE Holladay and Multnomah Streets and will have a formal opening in September.
