Job growth in Portland is up 2.9 percent, making it the 5th top U.S. for job growth, according to a study by Forbes

The study also ranked the top states with the highest percentages of job growth. Oregon ranks number six, with our job growth percentage up by 2.8 percent since 2013.

See Slides Below: The Top 10 Cities For Job Growth

The cities and states that make this list have experienced the strongest non-agricultural job growth over the first three quarters of 2014, according to Forbes' analysis of data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics by Professor Lee McPheters at the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. Approximately 2.4 million jobs have been added accross the nation to date this year, a 1.8% monthly average in national job growth, an increase of about 0.1 percentage point since last year.

Seven of the cities in the top 10 come from just three states: Florida, Texas, and California. But Portland, Denver, and Seattle all crack the list with growths of 2.6 percent and above.

Seven of the top 10 job-growth states are on the West Coast. Oregon is new to the list this year along with Delaware, replacing Idaho and Arizona.
