Portland Top City For Abundance of Transportation Services

Wednesday, February 04, 2015

Portland is the 7th top city in the U.S. for abundance of technology and app based transportation services like ride sourcing, bikesharing and taxi hailing, according to a study by The Frontier Group

The study reviewed the availability of 11 different transportation apps and online services in 70 U.S. cities and found that 19 of the cities have access to eight or more of these services.

Portland has nine of the 11 transportation services available.

The study also found that city-dwellers and millennials, especially, want more services that make it easier to conveniently get around without owning a car. Many of these services provide easy access to vehicles without the responsibility of ownership.

Despite Portland's abundance of transportation services, city hall has yet to make a plan for the ride sourcing service, Uber, to operate legally in the city.
