Tapalaya, a Cajun/Creole cuisine restaurant in Northeast Portland, is celebrating the last event from its Summer Spirit Series with a Cruzan Rum Spirit dinner and Caribbean-themed party.
The party will showcase a selection of Cruzan Rum from St. Croix, Virgin Islands and offer up vietnamese-inspired dishes and Cajun/Creole tapas. There will be different food and drink stations throughout the venue including an Oyster Shucking Station, Tapalaya’s Crawfish Boil and Caribbean Street Food, each paired with rum cocktails. For dinner entertainment, there will be a live musical performance by Tropical Breeze. Event tickets are 37 dollars per person and includes dinner, live music and a total of three rum cocktails, in addition to two rum samples.
Tapalaya’s Spirt Dinners each bring a new perspective to the New Oreleans culinary scene. The resturant is considered to be Portland’s first and only restaurant that serves New Orleans inspired Cajun cuisine served as Tapas. The Cajun/Creole restaurant sources most of its ingredients from local farms serving Portland and Washington. Classic and popular menu items include Beans & Rice, Jambalaya, Po’ Boy Sandwiches, Crawfish Étouffée, Barbecue Jumbo Gulf Prawns Blackened Catfish and Beignets. There are also gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options available.
The dinner will be held on August 17 from 6pm to 9pm and is located on Portland’s NE 28th restaurant row.
