Last Spin: DJ TrixieDoll Will Play the Matador Out
Friday, September 12, 2014
The Matador is just one of several old Portland bars that have closed in recent weeks, in a list that includes Tiga and Produce Row.
But no response has been made to enquiries about why this closure is happening for The Matador.
The Matador's Facebook page posted about the closure on Sept. 10:
Dear Matadorians,
It is with a heavy heart that I announce that this Friday September 12'th will be the last night of business for The Matador. Thank you all for the years of good times and laughs. Come down for one last call and say goodbye. All my best - Casey

DJ Trixiedoll performs the last set on the last night. She promises to "serve up a little bit of everything."
Trixiedoll (aka Samantha Buel) usually plays punk, garage, metal, disco, '80s new wave, rock, and many others. Her spattering of musical tastes is intended to give the bar patrons a night to remember, or at least try to remember.
After DJ'ing for 15 years at the Matador, Trixiedoll is known by all of the regulars and is a huge part of the Matador "family." After her set, you might catch her drinking a cocktail - her favorite being white tea and vodka with club soda.
Trixiedoll mentions that the theme of the Matador's last night is: "People should expect the unexpected."
She tells of a one night on which the unexpected happened.
"One night, maybe 10 years ago, someone brought in a horse," she said. "It was a 'Pet Night' that evening and people brought their dogs...and yes..horse... but if you didn't have a pet they gave you a goldfish in a baggy."
