Boom Arts Takes on Climate Change, Financial Corruption in New Productions

Wednesday, November 11, 2015

Boom Arts, a Portland-based theater company that focuses on social issues, will tackle climate change and financial corruption in their two newest productions.

On Tuesday, November 24, Boom Arts will participate in a worldwide “theatre action” on the theme of climate change. Boom Arts, along with Theatre Without Borders, will present an evening of short plays to cultivate conversation and inspire action around climate change.

The night will be directed by Tracy Cameron Francis, and is presented in support of local nonprofit 350PDX. 350PDX works to build community0based, grassroots solutions to stopping climate change.

The show kicks off at 7 PM at the Artists Repository Theatre, located at 1515 SW Morrison Street. The event is free and open to the public.

On December 4 and 5, Boom arts will reprise its acclaimed production, a Kaddish for Bernie Madoff, which takes on the disgraced investors corruption.  The show is created and performed by Alica Jo Rabins on processed violin and vocal and accompanied by an original full-length animation by Portland-based artists Zak Margolis.

The show will be held at 7:30 PM at Disjecta Contemporary Art Center, located at 831 North Interstate Avenue in Portland, on December 4 and 5.

For more information on either of the two shows or to purchase tickets, visit the Boom Arts website.
