Dave Attell Comes to Portland

New York comedian Dave Attell will make a stop at Portland’s Helium Comedy Club for a series of six shows in the Rose City this weekend.

Attwell, born in Queens, New York and raised on Long Island,first started performing stand-up in the late eighties after graduating from New York university with a degree in Film and Television.

Attell says he “used this prestigious degree to land amazing jobs in the food service industry—as a waiter.” He would perform at open-mic events in Manhattan at night for years until working his way up through the club scene to the road, touring across the country as a national headliner.

Attell created and hosted “Dave’s Old Porn” on Showtime, which featured appearances from Whitney Cummings, Chelsea Handler, Adam Carolla and Daniel Tosh.

He has also made numerous appearances on “The Late Show with David Letterman,” “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” “The Howard Stern Show,” “Last Call with Carson Daly” and “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart”. He also appeared in Chris Rock’s cult film “Pootie Tang”. Other television credits include FOX’s “Arrested Development,” NBC’s “Ed,” HBO, Comedy Central’s “Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn” and his own half-hour stand-up special “Comedy Central Presents Dave Attell”.

Attell’s new stand-up series, “Dave Attell’s Comedy Underground” and his newest special, Road Work, are both currently airing on Comedy Central.

Atlete will perform at 8 PM and 10 PM on Thursday, February 4 and at 7:30 PM and 10:30 PM on Friday, February, 5 and Saturday, February 6 at the Helium Comedy Club, located at 1510 SE 9th Avenue.
