Fertile Ground 2016 Opens Today

The Festival continues to flourish, planted in a town of incredible playwrights, actors, dancers, designers and producers.
Fertile Ground 16 will bring dozens of new artistic works from Portland’s stemming array of artists to life on stages, books and crannies across the Rose City.
Organizers promise an astonishing breadth of creative work for the stage, compressed into the darkest and wettest days of the Portland calendar.
“Portland is a fount of innovation and creativity, a place where new ideas thrive and creators are (almost literally) on every corner,” said Nicole Lane, Fertile Ground Festival Director. “Likewise, Fertile Ground is an incubator for new works of art creation citywide, I’m continually surprised at the abundance and diversity of new ‘acts of creation’ by Portland artists, many of whom are producing their own work and taking a giant leap to share it with Fertile Ground audiences.”
Performances making their debuts at the festival include theatre, dance, comedy, circus arts, animation, clown and social action through the arts with theatre, along with dance world premieres, workshops, staged readings, readings and multidisciplinary events – for 11 days, at all times of the day.

The Portland Film Festival hosted a jam-packed Opening Night After-Party at Cine Rent West on Tuesday night in Northwest Portland. The party was a chance for filmmakers (including Alicia Rose, Jacqueline Gault and the Pander Brothers) to mingle with VIPs and viewers who are in town for the third annual film fest.
