The first-ever Beaverton Night Market will occur on Saturday, September 12th, from 5pm - 10pm.
The Beaverton Night Market is a pilot project of Beaverton’s Diversity Advisory Board, and the market is hoped to be the first of several markets.
Similar to the night markets that take place around the world, the Beaverton Night Market will be a vibrant multicultural and family-friendly event.
During the evening, visitors will enjoy a night of diverse entertainment and purchasing.
There will be performances by Japanese taiko drummers, traditional Mexican dances, and the local Italian Indie-rock band, Mbrascatu, to name a few.
During and after the entertainment, visitors will be able to peruse through vendors selling food and handcrafted items from East Africa, Lebanon, Mexico, El Salvador, Cambodia, Korea, Hawaii, Latin America Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, Japan, and the Pacific Northwest.
"The night market brings back memories of the bustling streets, crowded with couples and families enjoying the night out. Beaverton Night Market is where you can 'taste' the diverse cultures that make up our city,” said Dr. Edward Kimmi, a member of the DAB who will emcee the event with fellow member Ruth Parra.
In addition to being a fantastic event, the Beaverton Night Market will also be held on the same day when the TriMet rail and bus lines are free in celebration of the opening of the Orange Line. Making it nearly impossible to miss, then, visitors will be able to travel to and enter the market for free.
