Knowledge Universe employees, Trail Blazer Robin Lopez, Portland City Commissioner Nick Fish and the local non-profit Schoolhouse Supplies hand-delivered more than 600 backpacks and school supplies to students at North Portland’s Beach Elementary School on Thursday morning for the annual 'March to Beach' charity event.

This year's 'March To Beach' was the largest in the event's history.

Knowledge Universe also announced that they will be donating more than 500 books to the library at Beach School.

“We know from the work we do with children every day that education and reading changes lives, which is why we want to do all we can to get students the supplies they need to be ready to learn from day one,” said Tom Wyatt, CEO of Knowledge Universe.

“It’s great to see our corporate and community partners participate so strongly in the back-to-school season,” said Jen Barth, Schoolhouse Supplies executive director. “Providing students with basic school supplies reinforces the commitment we all share to help all students, regardless of circumstance, start the year off on the right foot.”
