New: Operation Silent Night: Finding Homes for Shelter Animals

Tuesday, December 02, 2014

Hi! My name is Jaspurr and I am a 4- year old tabby.

Multnomah County Animal Services is hosting “Operation Silent Night” to find safe and loving homes for every shelter animal by December 31.

“Year-round, we provide a safe haven for Portland’s neediest animals,” says Multnomah County Animal Services director Mike Oswald. “We hope that Portlanders will meet the challenge of Operation Silent Night and open their homes to the approximately 200 adoptable animals that will be in need of a home this holiday season.”

Adoption fees will match the date, for all animals over the age of 6 months. For example, you can can adopt for just three dollars on December 3rd, four dollars on December 4th, and so on through December 31st. Puppies and kittens under 6 months will not be part of this special deal.

If you are not looking to adopt, you can still help by donating to the Dolly's Fund and pay for life-saving medical treatments for abandoned animals, donating items from shelter’s wish list, or becoming a foster parent for animals that need a short-term home.
