Oregon State Fair Releases Summer Concert Lineup

The Oregon State Fair has released is Summer Concert Lineup. This year, a touring bicycle, named "Fairley" will deliver the news to several communities across the state. 

“This year’s fantastic array of entertainers once again makes the State Fair among Oregon’s premier musical events. Included in the price of admission, concerts are not only great fun, they are a value for the whole family. We are excited to kick off this year’s events with the Oregon State Fair bicycle tour; complete with fanfare and fun to gear up to the big event,” said Dan Cox, Oregon State Fair spokesperson. 

The LIneup is as follows: 

·         Friday, Aug. 26 Foreigner at 7 p.m.

·         Saturday, Aug. 27 Tommy James and The Shondells    at 7 p.m.

·         Monday, Aug. 29 Hunter Hayes at 7 p.m.

·         Tuesday, Aug. 30 Melissa Etheridge at 7 p.m.

·         Wednesday, Aug. 31 Jeremy Camp and Mercy Me at 6:30 p.m. 

·         Thursday, Sept. 1 Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo at 7 p.m.

·         Friday, Sept. 2 Montgomery Gentry at 7 p.m.

·         Saturday, Sept. 3 Theory of a Deadman at 7 p.m.

·         Monday, Sept. 5 Creedence Clearwater Revisited at 4 p.m.

 

Concerts are free with fair admission. Limited VIP Seating is valuable for $35. Fair and VIP tickets can be purchased on Friday, May 20 at 10 a.m. by clicking here. 

Oregon State Fair 

The Oregon State Fair, established in 1861, first began in Oregon City, Oregon during the time of the U.S. Civil War. Since 1862, the Fair has called the Oregon State Fairgrounds in Salem home, hosting thousands of visitors from near and far with premier concerts, art, culture, rides, agricultural exhibits and livestock.

Paul Simon at Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall

Formerly of the duo Simon & Garfunkel, Paul Simon wrote nearly al of the groups songs, including three that reached the #1 spot on the U.S. singles charts. Those songs were "The Sound of Silence," "Mrs. Robinson," and "Bridge Over Troubled Water."

In 2015, Smon was named one of the 100 Greatest Songwriters by Rolling Stone and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.

Bob Dylan & Mavis Staples at Cuthbert Ampitheater

Music legend Bob Dylan is set to play Cuthbert Ampitheater along side lifelong friend, and nearly wife, Mavis Staples. 

Staples admitted in 2008 that her and Dylan "were good friends" and that Dylan had asked her father for her hand in marriage. 

Bob Dylan has been a huge influence in pop music and culture  with a recording career that is spans 50 years and a variety of different music styles from folk, blues, and country to gospel and rock and roll. 

Dylan has soled over 100 million records and has won 11 Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award. Dylan was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hal of Fame, Minnesota Music Hall of Fame, Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. 

In 202, Dylan received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Obama. 

 Mavis Staples 

Stables is a rhythm and blues and gospel singer who has recored and performed with her family's band The Staple Singers, as well as performing solo.
