Storm Large arrived onstage in crutches, but she made it. “Nothing was going to stop me from making this luncheon,” said Storm. “Nothing.” 

Large did not let a recent knee surgery stop her from attending Albertina Kerr's 107th Annual Meeting & Community Awards Luncheon at the Portland Art Museum on Friday. 

Storm appeared at the tail-end of the luncheon, which honored community leaders and businesses as well as long-time supporters of the organization that serves children and adults with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges - empowering them to live richer lives.

Even though the program ran a little bit long, instead of watching people file to the door and back to their desks as the clocked tick past the noon hour, Large kept the audience glued to their seats with both song and stories of her “crazy” life, the one featured in her 2012 memoir, “Crazy Enough,” which details her life growing up with a mother with psychological issues.
 
Seriously, Storm had everyone in tears by the end of her three-song set.
