Party Report: Chef Gregory Gourdet’s Birthday on Sauvie Island

It was a star studded gathering with many of Gregory's friends from "Top Chef Boston" including Katsuji Tanabe, winner Mei Lin and imperial's Dougie Adams.
Local chefs represented both in person and on the plate included chefs Vitaly Paley, Gabriel Pascuzzi, Sean Temple, Jin Soo and others. The food of feasty-porportions came from the likes of well-known hotspots such as Smokehouse 21, Ava Gene's, Lang Baan, Bamboo Sushi and Podnah's Pit. And to top it all off were frozen treats from Salt & Straw.
Music is a big part of Departure chef Gregory's life (so is ultra-running). That is why DJ's were also represented at the party including Portland's own DJ Rev Shines and DJ Hold My Hand and as well DJ friends from across the country—Ana Sia, The Glitch Mob, Ardalan, Barisone and Danny Corn—who all played a set during the 12-hour party.
Speaking of friends and family, many of them traveled across the country to celebrate Gregory's special day including his sister and many of his childhood friends.
Lucky attendees stripped down to swimwear (despite a slight drizzle in the earliest hours of the party) and hit the water before dancing late into the night. And what a night it was.
Happy birthday Gregory!
And even bigger props to Gregory's best friend, Tia Vanich, who made this elaborate all day party go off without a hitch.
