Portland International Film Fest

The Northwest Film Center launched the 38th Annual Portland International Film Festival with a screening of “Wild Tales"-Argentinean director Damián Szofrón's film that is currently nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film—at the Fox Tower on Thursday night. 

To celebrate the opening of this year’s Festival and the Academy Award nominated film, the Northwest Film Center—with co-hosts King Estate Winery, Sierra Nevada Brewing, Swank & Swine, and Pearl Catering—threw a giant late night after-party in the lobby of the Fox Tower multiplex.

Those gathered at the party included film critic and author Shawn Levy, author Chelsea Cain (who just so happened to be celebrating her birthday) and her husband film critic Marc Mohan. Northwest Film Center Executive Director Bill Foster was joined by Oregon Film Executive Director Tim Williams and Portland Film Festival Director Josh Leake. 

Following Opening Night, PIFF retains a sizable presence downtown and throughout the city with screenings at the Film Center’s Whitsell Auditorium, located inside the Portland Art Museum (1219 SW Park Avenue), Cinema 21 (616 NW 21st Avenue), Regal Fox Tower (846 SW Park Avenue), World Trade Center (121 SW Salmon Street, 1st Street, Building 2), the Hollywood Theatre (4122 NE Sandy Boulevard) and, for the first time, the Moreland Theater (6712 SE Milwaukie Avenue) and Roseway Theater (7229 NE Sandy Boulevard).
