The
Regional Arts and Culture Council (RACC) hosted a fundraising event, “In the Garden of Artistic Delights,” on August 1 as part of its 20th anniversary celebration.
The event's main attraction was the artistic demonstrations stationed throughout Bella Madrona — the Gardens of Sampson and Beasley. The artists who were part of the event were all funded by RACC and included David Eckard, Carla Rossi, Anita Menon, Dana Lynn Louis, En Taiko and Wobbly Dance.
Guests of the event were offered a Crown Paella dinner and wine tastings from A to Z Wine Works, Bethel Heights Vineyard, Duck Pond Cellars, Tequila Cazadorez and Widmer Brothers Brewing.
The event was chaired by Linda McGeady and sponsored by Portland's grand dame of the art scene, Arlene Schnitzer. The fundraiser raised a net total of $37,000 through a live auction and paddle raise.
Guests who attended included Portland City Commissioner Nick Fish, gallery owner Charles Froelick, former Multnomah County Commissioner Maria Rojo de Steffey, developer Jim Winkler, RACC Board Chair Jan Robertson, White Bird founders Paul King and Walter Jaffe, animator Joanna Priestley, restauranteur Lisa Schroeder and Rob Sample.
RACC serves the Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington counties and has both public and private partners that sponsor and provide funding for artists, schools and residents in the community.
