The Oregon Symphony will make its first foray into country music in a special concert this Thursday featuring singer and songwriter Sara Evans.

Described by many as the heir apparent to Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette, Evans is known for her simmering voice and her mix of touching ballads. She will join the Portland Symphony on Thursday for a special going performance.

Director Paul Ghun Kim will direct the symphony as they provide backing for Evans vocals. The group will perform famous country and western standards before breaking for an intermission.

In the show’s second act, the symphony will help Evans as she treats guests to special renditions of her own music.

The concert kicks off at 7:30 PM on Thursday November 12 at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, located at 1037 SW Broadway. For more information or to get your tickets for the concert, visit the Oregon Symphony’s website.
