The Rose City Classic Dog Show is This Weekend

Tuesday, January 19, 2016

The 2016 edition of the Rose City Classic Dog Show will take place this weekend at the Portland Expo Center.

The Rose City Classic Series of Dog Shows is one of the largest and most popular dog events in the United States. It spans five days, starting with Individual Breeds and Group  Specialty Shows  on Wednesday, followed by four days of all-breed dog shows representing more than 175 individual breeds.

The shows are hosted by the Dog Fanciers Association of Oregon an the Tualatin Kennel Club. The two clubs have served the greater Portland area for more than 70 and 40 years, respectively.

Each year, the members of these not-for-profit clubs donate their time and expertise to put on the Rose City Classic, and afterwards donate profits to causes that promote responsible dog ownership and the health and welfare of dogs.

The all-breed shows feature breed judging, which is also called Conformation, as well as Obedience, Rally and Agility Trials on Thursday through Sunday.  AKC Canine Good Citizen Tests are held on Friday and Saturday.

Classes for Beginner Puppies, 4-6 months old are held on Saturday. People who are looking for a specific breed can check out the Meet the Breeds booths on Friday through Sunday, and review the judging program on the menu bar above and to the right, but keep in mind that the current year’s judging program will not be published until about a week before the show.

The 2016 Rose City Classic Dog show will be held Wednesday January 20 through Sunday, January 24 at the Portland Expo Center, located at 2060 North Marine Drive. For more information, visit the Dog Show website.
