Thurston High School
On May 21, 1998, Kipland P. Kinkel went on a shooting spree, killing his parents at home and then two students at school. 25 others were injured before Kipland was arrested. Kipland was a 15-year-old freshman at Thurston High School in Springfield. Sources confirm that Kipland had prior signs of mental illness.
Roseburg High School
On February 23, 2006, 14-year-old freshman Vincent Wayne Leodoro shot 16-year-old Joseph Monti four times in the back with a semi-automatic handgun in the courtyard of Roseburg High School in Roseburg. Leodoro then left the school campus and was confronted by six police officers in front of a restaurant. He threatened suicide while customers inside the restaurant and the police officers convinced him not to pull the trigger on himself. Leodoro surrendered to the police and was found guilty of attempted murder and assult in July of that year. He is in prison until he turns 25.
Reynolds High School
On June 10, 2014, Jared Padgett, a 15-year-old at Reynolds High School in Troutdale, fired shots, killing 14-year-old freshman Emilio Hoffman and injuring a physical education teacher. After exchanging gunfire with police officers, Padgett committed suicide in a restroom stall.
Rosemary Anderson High School
On December 12, 2014, a gunman shot three students and a man outside of Rosemary Anderson High School in north Portland. A 16-year-old girl was in critical condition, while a boy and a 20-year-old man were hospitalized in fair condition. A fourth girl was grazed by a bullet and was treated at the scene. Two men, aged 18 and 22, were arrested in connection with the shooting.
Umpqua Community College
On October 1, 2015, a gunman went on a shooting spree in an English classroom at Umpqua Community College. As of the latest report (1:40pm 10/1/15), about eleven people were taken to Mercy Medical Center. Of those, two have died. At this moment, reports say that 13 people are dead and 20 are wounded, making this not only one of Oregon's deadliest mass shootings, but one of the worst mass shootings in the U.S. The gunman's name has yet to be released. The shooter has been detained and is deceased.
