Bicyclist Dies After Collision With Semi Truck

A FedEx semi truck collided with a bicyclist, killing him, Wednesday morning in Cedar Mill community, according to Washington County sheriffs.

The FedEx truck was traveling eastbound on Northwest Cornell Road and then turned South onto Northwest Barnes Road at a traffic light. Deputies determined that the cyclist was also traveling eastbound on Northwest Cornell Rd. and the truck turned into the path of the cyclist causing them to collide.

The 70 year old cyclist, Kirke Johnson did not survive his injuries and was declared dead at the scene, according to deputies. The FedEx driver was identified as Delmar Suiter, 60, from Gresham. Suiter stayed at the crash scene and cooperated with investigators, sheriffs said.

The intersection was closed for three hours.
