Coming Thursday: The Top High Schools in Oregon 2014
Wednesday, August 27, 2014
On Thursday, GoLocalPDX releases its inaugural Top High Schools 2014, the proprietary ranking that crunches hundreds of pieces of data from 156 public, charter and technical schools statewide to reveal how well schools provide for their students.
With school quality a cornerstone of real estate values and a crucial element of civic pride, this quantitative analysis of each school provides an insightful view of the secondary school educational landscape in Oregon.
GoLocalPDX employs a formula developed at Babson College to assess and weigh each school's latest SAT scores, state quality benchmarks and graduation rates.
On Thursday, see profiles of the top 100 public, charter and technical schools in the state. GoLocalPDX only ranked high schools with grades nine through 12. More detailed information on all public high schools will be published Friday.
Nothing may be more discussed, debated, and even gossiped about, than schools. They dominate local culture with sports, student stars, college acceptances (or rejections), and the incredible hum of teen life. Everyone has loyalties. Most think theirs is best and, with typical Oregon passion, are willing to argue it long past the clearing of an athletic field, the curtain falls on a senior theatrical or band concert, the end of a debate competition or Mock Trial.
How'd your school do? GoLocal has the latest rankings, coming Thursday.
