UPDATED: Nine Earthquakes Shake Southern Oregon Border
Thursday, January 22, 2015
The earthquakes, ranging from magnitude from 2.5 to 4.5, occurred in rural Nevada between 41 and 48 miles east-southeast of the Oregon town of Lakeview.
“While these earthquakes are not going to cause major damages, people should be on alert incase larger earthquakes happen,” Jessica Turner with the USGS said. “It shouldn’t be too surprising to feel more earthquakes over the next few days.”
The strongest quake, 4.5 magnitude, occurred at 1:09 a.m. on Tuesday, with only four people reporting they felt it, according to USGS's earthquake-reporting site.
Northwest Nevada and southern Oregon have experienced a series of small earthquakes since last year.
