Man Arrested on Sex Offense Charges 4 Months After Initial Arrest

A 58-year-old man from West Salem was arrested on Friday on sex charges just four months after he was initially arrested for sex crimes.

Hugh Reeves was arrested by Polk County Sheriff’s Office detectives and charged with the sexual abuse of a non-relative minor female. On August 11, Reeves was arrested and charged with multiple counts of the same charge.

Reeves posted bail for the initial arrest in August and is currently awaiting trial. His next court date on that case is in February of 2016.

Reeves was charged with one count of rape II, four counts of rape II, two counts of sodomy II, seven counts of sodomy III, one count of sex abuse I, three counts of sex abuse II and four counts of sex abuse III.

The latest arrest includes a different minor victim, according to police. The abuse was reported to have been ongoing over the past year.
