One Injured in Mair of Overnight Shootings in East Portland

One man was injured in a pair of Saturday night shootings being investigated as gang offenses by the Portland Police Bureau.

At 11:35 PM on Saturday, January 16, East Precinct officers responded to a report of gunfire on the 11200 block of Northeast Knott Street.

Police arrived in the area and found one vehicle damaged by gunfire. Officers contacted people attending a party near the damaged vehicle and learned that nobody at the party was injured. Officers learned of a second vehicle damaged by gunfire that had been driven to a different location.

At 12:29 AM, East Precinct officers received another report of gunfire, this time at Southeast 171st Avenue and Division Street. The caller who reported the shooting told police he saw someone down in the street and several people running away from the scene.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and located a 21-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a Portland hospital and is expected to survive his injuries.

Based on information learned by the responding officers, the Gang Enforcement Team began to conduct a pair of investigations. There is no information to indicate that the two shootings are related to one another.
