Wednesday, July 22, 2015

Oregon currently has the second highest minimum wage in the nation at $9.25 an hour, trailing just behind Washington at $9.47 an hour.

Since 1996 Oregon’s minimum wage rate has been steadily increasing. Over that period of time the rate has increased by $5.90. Our state wage has also been higher than then the federal wage for over 30 years.

Recently the University of California decided to raise their employee and contract minimum wage to $15 an hour by the time 2017 rolls around. Currently the state of California’s minimum wage rate is set at only $9 an hour. As of now Oregon State schools have not raised followed suit.
