The study analyzed the 50 states and DC across seven key metrics including, average student debt, unemployment rate and percentage of students in past-due or default status. Oregon ranked 49 for worst student debt as a percentage of average income, 46 for unemployment rate for people aged 25 to 34, and 23 for percentage of student loan borrowers in past-due or default status.
A recent GoLocalPDX analysis found that Oregon community college students default on federal loans at three times the rate of the state’s public and private university students.
