Oregon Politician and Leader Gretchen Kafoury Has Died

Gretchen Kafoury

Oregon politician and leader Gretchen Kafoury has died at the age of 72. 

Born in 1942 Gretchen Kafoury was a member of the Oregon House of Representatives, and served as a commissioner for Multnomah County and Portland City Council. 

In 1970 she co-founded the Oregon chapter of the National Organization of Women and the Oregon Women's Political Caucus in 1971.

A member of a family devoted to political service, Kafoury's daughter, Deborah Kafoury, is the current chair of Multnomah County. Kafoury is also survived by another daughter Katherine.
