Police Investigating Possible Drug Overdose Death of Portland State Football Player

The Investigation
The investigation started on Wednesday, April 13 at 9:45 p.m. when Central Precinct officers responded to a residence in the 2000 block of Southwest Park Avenue on a report that a 22-year-old male was unconscious and possibly deceased inside the home.
Officers and medical personnel arrived and located Smith and determined that he was deceased. Investigating officers located evidence at the scene that indicated the death may have been related to a drug overdose.
Based on information, DVD officers responded to the scene to begin conducting a death investigation.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
Toxicology results being conducted by the Medical Examiner's Office are expected to take several weeks.
