WalletHub, a financial analysis website, examined more than 500 U.S. cities across 10 key metrics ranging from population growth to declines in unemployment rate. Portland was ranked in the category for cities with a population size of more than 300,000 people.

Omaha, Neb., Oklahoma City, Okla., and Bakersfield, Calif. are all growing faster than Portland. The only major U.S. city that made the list is Washington, D.C.

Although the U.S. population is growing, the growth rate has decreased since the 1990s. In 1990 the growth rate was 5 percent, and by 2013 the rate fell to .72 percent.

Despite national declines in growth rate, people are flocking to Portland giving it the No. 14 spot.
