City Club of Portland recommended a yes vote on a Portland Parks Replacement Bond (measure 26-159) that would provide up to $68 million in funds for park maintenance needs on Monday, September 8.

City club said there is an ongoing need to maintain and improve Parks and Recreation facilities, and that there is no alternative to a bond for funding.

Portland’s general city club membership and board of governors share a legacy of researching and supporting Portland parks bond and levy proposals, according to a city club statement.

The city club board of governors said they expect the parks bureau to invest bond resources in a way that provides equal maintenance of all citywide parks, regardless of location.

"Prosperity, health and education should be available to all Portlanders, regardless of who they are, where they come from or how much money they make" state an official release by the city club board.  "To that end, access to parks and recreation should be available to Portlanders regardless of geography."
