Portland tea entrepreneur Steve Smith has died.

It is being reported that one of the masterminds behind such well known tea brands as Tazo Tea, Stash and Smith Teamaker has died at the age of 65.

OregonLive indicated in a post that Smith had died at home on Monday afternoon.

Smith started Tazo in 1994 and sold it to Starbucks in 1999 for over 8 million dollars.

The Smith Teamaker website refers to Steve as "the tea guy, the energy and sage behind the label; CEO and "chiefy", master of ceremony and founder of Smith Teamaker."

Smith was well known in both the food and fundraising community. He will be missed.
