Sellwood Bridge to Reopen Friday Night

The Sellwood Bridge will reopen Friday night, Nov. 21, after the evening commute. The contractor is completing a traffic control change that will shift traffic onto the new East side entry to the bridge.

The bridge will reopen before midnight.

Planning for the redesign of the Sellwood bridge began in 2006 and constrcution began in December of 2011. Slayden Construction Group and Sundt Construction were chosen to build the new bridge.

The new Sellwood Bridge is being designed to withstand an earthquake and bridge engineers have considered all the potential seismic conditions in the region and at the bridge's sepcific site, according to sellwoodbridge.org.
