The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department has scheduled a pair of meetings in January to hear comment on the planning of a new coastal park in Pacific City.

The park, currently named the “Sitka Sedge State Natural Area” is 357-acre piece of coastal property in Tillamook County. The state acquired the parcel of land in 2014.

The meetings are designed to hear public comment on the planned park. It will also include an in-depth look at the natural, scenic and cultural resources of the park, park management needs and other facets of the area.

The meetings are set for Thursday, January 14 and Tuesday, January 26, both at 6 PM. Tuesday’s meeting will lake place at the Kiawanda Community Center, located at 34600 Cape Kiwanda Drive in Pacific City. Thursday’s meeting will take place at the Wilsonville Library, located at 8200 SW Wilsonville Road in Wilsonville.

Public comment will also be accepted via email or post. Written comments may be submitted to Ben Hedstrom by mail at  725 Summer St. NE, Suite C, Salem, OR 97301 or by email at [email protected].
