Two Arrested for Trespassing at Franklin High School
Wednesday, October 28, 2015
East Precinct officers, including a K9 team, were dispatched to Franklin High School, which is currently being renovated and is not being used by students this year, at 1:03 AM on Tuesday.
Upon arriving at the schools, officers located 21-year-old Matthew Miller walking along the school’s fence. When they approached Miller, he fled on foot but was eventually arrested. He was arrested for an outstanding warrant, along with charges related to the foot pursuit.
The officers and the K9, named Hunter, then searched the school grounds. While searching through construction equipment and materials, they found a second subject, 37-year-old Samuel Garcia, hiding in a pit next to the building’s foundation.
Garcia had a knife on his waistband and refused to exit the pit. The officers called for back-up and eventually placed Garcia, who had a previous warrant for his arrest, in custody. He was also charged with trespassing.
Officers have previously made several arrests at the school, and patrol it often. Anyone who sees or knows of trespassers at the site should contact the Portland Police Bureau
