US Attorney Amanda Marshall on Leave Amid Reports of Stalking
Sunday, March 15, 2015
Marshall's spokesperson, Gerri Badden, said Marshall has taken a leave from office and that prosecutor Billy Williams will serve as the Acting US Attorney in her stead.
The Oregonian reports investigators from the U.S. Department of Justice are looking into Marshall for an inappropriate connection with Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott Kerin, through behavior that involved repeated texts and emails, and at one point driving by his house.
Marshall was appointed to her post by U.S. President Barrack Obama in 2011, and oversees the U.S. DOJ offices in Portland, Medford and Eugene. As Williams, a member of the Urban League of Portland's board of directors, steps up to fill Marshall's shoes, federal investigators are in the midst of a comprehensive investigation into the office of former governor John Kitzhaber.
The four-term governor resigned over allegations that his fiancee, Cylvia Hayes, used her role as a public official to benefit her private consulting firm.
It is unclear when Marshall will return to her post.
