Wehby Accepts Invites, Awaits Merkley’s Response

Monday, September 29, 2014

Dr. Monica Wehby for U.S. Senate campaign announced Monday that she has accepted an invitation to participate in four televised debates between now and Election Day, November 4.

The televised debates include an October 14 debate on KOBI, and three additional debates, hosted by Oregon Public Broadcasting, KOIN, and the City Club of Portland

This follows her recent cancelation of an October 23 debate held by KGW and the Oregonian. Wehby also failed to show up to a Willamette Week interview involving Senator Jeff Merkley and two other candidates.

Wehby has requested that Senator Merkley promptly accept these invitations in order to schedule dates and times that will allow for a public discussion on issues such as unemployment and the economy, according to the Wehby campaign.

"Accepting these debates underscores Dr. Wehby’s intention to address head-on Senator Merkley’s disingenuous and ineffective first term in the United States Senate," her campaign stated.
