Basic Rights Oregon Moves To New Leadership Structure

Today, Basic Rights Oregon’s Board of Directors announced a new leadership structure for the organization, shifting to a co-director model from the current executive director and deputy director model. 

Jeanna Frazzini and Nancy Haque will both serve as the co-directors of the 19-year old statewide advocacy group. 

Frazzini has led the organization as the executive director since 2008 after serving as the Development Director for three years. Haque joins the Basic Rights staff after serving on the Basic Rights Board for three years and serving as a consultant on the organization’s strategic planning process this year.

“For nearly two decades Basic Rights Oregon has sought to be an innovative leader in the LGBTQ movement and the time is right for us to make another big change in recognition of the shift in the work,” said Vanessa Usui, co-chair of the Board of Directors. “We are nearly ready to introduce our next strategic plan after focusing on the freedom to marry, and transgender and racial justice for the last five-plus years. This is a transformational moment for Basic Rights Oregon and the LGBTQ movement. We need to evolve with it.”

Basic Rights Oregon is the state’s largest nonprofit gay and transgender advocacy group.
