IAAF Refuses to Lift Ban on Russian Track & Field Athletes for Olympics

Friday, June 17, 2016

The IAAF is refusing to life the ban on Russian track and field athletes for the Olympic Games in Rio.

The IAAF suspended Russian track and field athletes from competition in November after a WADA report exposed a systematic, state-sponsored doping scandal among Russian sports officials.

In a bid to overturn the ban, Russia announced a series of reforms aimed at eliminating and spreading awareness about doping to its athletes. However, at a meeting in Vienna the IAAF refused to lift the ban.

GoLocal teams with Graphiq to highlight the results of the WADA report showing the countries with the highest number of doping violations.
