Oregon Sports News’ Super Bowl Prop Bets
Friday, February 05, 2016
Each year there are hundreds of different prop bets that you can bet on. Everything from the length of the national anthem to the amount of times a certain individual is shown on the broadcast.
There will be a reported $4.2 billion bet on the Super Bowl. A lot of those bets will be prop bets.
Check out my favorite 5 prop bets if you want to make money this weekend!
Will there be a scoreless quarter in the Super Bowl?
Yes +200 – No -260
This is free money! Double your money with this bet. Both defenses in this game are very good. Denver was the best defense in the league throughout the regular season, Carolina has the 6th best defense in the league.
Even though the Panthers have the best defense in the league, this game has the chance of being all about the defenses. Count on a scoreless quarter, and count on doubling your money.
Will there be a safety in the game?
Yes +600 – No -1000
Out of the first 49 Super Bowls, 9 of those Super Bowls have included a safety. That is just over 5% of Super Bowls have had a safety. The last Super Bowl to include a safety? Two years ago when the Denver Broncos played the Seattle Seahawks.
Both of these teams feature aggressive pass rushes. Both of these teams have good punting games. Peyton Manning is close to immobile. Cam Newton trusts his legs too much at times. A recipe for a safety.
Bet $50 on this one and walk away with $300 is there is a safety in the Super Bowl.
Will the Carolina Panthers successfully convert a 4th down?
Yes EVEN – No -130
Riverboat Ron didn’t get his nickname without earning it. The man likes to take a chance every now and again. Plus it doesn’t hurt that he has a quarterback that is 6’5”, 250 pounds and likes to run over people. At some point in this game the Panthers will be faced with a 4th-and-1 and they will run a designed quarterback run. Take the yes on this one!
MVP Super Bowl 50
Cam Newton -130 – Peyton Manning +275
While I think that the Carolina Panthers run away with this game, and Cam Newton runs away with the MVP trophy, I am a gambling man and I love this bet. If the Broncos do end up winning, Peyton Manning will win the MVP trophy. Manning could throw 4 interceptions and have a terrible game, but if the Broncos find a way to win, they will give it to Manning as a retirement gift.
This one is a risky bet because I don’t think the Broncos win, but it’s a good bet.
How many times will “dab” or “dabbing” be said by the announcers during the broadcast?
Over 2 EVEN – Under 2 -140
This is one of the easiest ones. Cam Newton has started a trend when it comes to dabbing. You will see fans in the crowd dabbing whenever Newton does anything good. You will see Newton and teammates dabbing every time they score a touchdown. This is an easy bet. Take this to the bank.
Will there be an earthquake during the game?
Yes +1000
This is one of those bets that is unique to the location. This year, with the movie San Andreas coming out, of course there is a Super Bowl located so close to the San Andreas fault. Put a small $5 bet on this, just on the off chance there is an earthquake. Turn those $5 into $50.
How many times will the Golden Gate Bridge be shown during the Broadcast?
Over 0.5 -400 – Under 0.5 +250
Not a bet that will make you much money, but maybe the most solid bet of the entire weekend. Bet $100 on this one and walk away with $25 extra dollars in your pocket. This is a guarantee. The Golden Gate Bridge is the most iconic sight in the entire bay area.
