Plenty is at stake, Wednesday night, as the Blazers host the Rockets.
Houston (43-20) is currently in third place in the Western Conference, one game ahead of Portland (41-20).
The winner of Wednesday's contest will capture the season series, which is good for a tie-breaker should the teams complete the regular season with matching records.
After studying the remaining schedule for each team, such a knot isn't hard to imagine. With similar records and opponents, the Blazers and Rockets could well end up a photo finish.
By the numbers, the Rockets have a slight edge--they play fewer games, more at home, and have the easier strength of schedule, though only by a nose. A closer look:
